The Return of : The Floppy Hat

1:07 pm

Near the end of the '60s, young women who believed in "free love" and peace made the floppy hat popular. Made of fabrics from leather to straw to lace, the wide-brimmed hat accompanied flowing skirts and halter tops. Pretty, elegant versions of the hat were worn by some brides in the '70s.

With summer approaching and the hippie trend reaching new heights, it's no wonder the felt floppy hat has come back in style. Originally popularised by, Brigitte Bardot and Faye Dunaway, and now worn by Blake Lively, Sienna Miller Vanessa Hudgens, Kate Moss and Nicole Richie, the floppy hat is everywhere to be seen. The floppy hat is a great transitional piece that will take you from summer to fall in no time.

From wide to small brim, from brown to blue, the floppy hat is now available in an array of colours and styles, within a wide price range, available for fashionistas that are in a budget as well as for those who like to spend a little more. I bought my floppy hat today and I just can't wait to pair it off with a long black dress and sandals and strut it in the park on a lovely sunny day.
