Mad Hatter Experience

9:13 am

I finally got to experience the Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea hype at the Sanderson Hotel, London recently with my two friends Amika and Kelly. We were greeted with complimentary drinks each, non- alcoholic beverages were provided as well for those who don't consume alcohol. All their props on the table were so cute and so Alice. The brown and white sugar cubes were placed in a cute vintage music box, the different kinds sample lose teas were placed in small pick me up bottles for us to choose from. All we needed to do was remove the cork and smell the loose tea leaves. Each teas were given their own special name based on the characters in Alice and Wonderland. For example, Mad Hatter tea was green tea infused with passion fruit, guava and mango - which was the one I chose hehe Our tea pots arrived in cute pots with a sketch of a queen on it. The tea was simply delicious and fragrant and I enjoyed it very much.

Question: How would you like your tea?
Me: Delicious and hot please.

Our first course of our tea experience would be the savoury dishes. Each of us had some finger sandwiches which includes pesto sandwiches and ham and cheese sandwiches, smoked salmon scotched eggs with caviar and a crab bun. Luckily for me, I asked them whether I could get the ham sandwiches without the ham and they said they had no problem with it and would make cheese sandwiches just for me! How nice of them! Also, after finishing our first plate, we realised that the savoury sandwiches were unlimited. Faaaaaab we kinda had two plates each before realising that were were almost full.

Food coma alert

Time for the sweet stuffffffff

Our real deal to the afternoon tea would be the dessert tower. On the first level of the tower, we got a scone each with butter and clotted cream with strawberry jam and an Alice pick me up which was a yoghurt drink that was layered with passion fruit jelly, coconut as well as mango yoghurt. The second level of the tower spoiled us with deserts that were decorated with the Alice theme namely coffee macaroons, banana and cinnamon muffins, red velvet and coconut cake as well as a area sandwich. To be fair, my favourite dessert from this level would be the oreo sandwiches. The third level of the tower was the marshmallow tower. We had mushroom marshmallows and truffle chocolates. We also had some surprise pavlovas hidden in the little tree bush thing at the very top of our desert tower. By the time we got to the last level, we were already in food coma basically haha But I just thought that it would be such a waste not to try it. I took a bite and wanted to spit it out immediately. The tasted like grass! Since it was placed in an actual flower pot i felt like the taste of the pot kind rubbed of on the pavlovas.

gOSH

The food was good and the desserts were great! It was such a good afternoon spent. The food coma and indigestion we experienced after the whole thing clearly showed that we enjoyed every bit of it. However, the one thing that could be improved would be the service. It was so hard to attention from the waitresses and waiters. We waited so long for them to come over and explain to us how everything works. Besides that, they had mixed up the tea orders for one of my friends. She had ordered the Mad hatter tea but she was given the wrong one. Other than it, we still enjoyed ourselves!
