Brick lane

12:07 pm

Had a wonderful Sunday with Jamal and Hakim. Since it was Hakim's first time in London I thought that i'd take him to a hip place, Brick lane which is known as Bangla Land. No, I am not being racist. Brick lane, and the street leading off it, has developed into an iconic District in London that has gone through numerous changes over the centuries. As I have mentioned before, its name Bangla land or bangla town came from the large Bangladesh Community that calls the area home. It has the reputation of being amongst the best places in the capital to enjoy curry at one of the many Bangladeshi restaurants that line the streets.

Brick lane has a traditional flea-market affair, with rich diversity of products and wares with everything from food, second -hand clothes, furniture, magazines , sweets, etc during the weekdays and weekends. It spills across a relatively large area and several streets. It is now becoming known as a great place to pick up home accessories as well.  There are many cool and retro stores and the best beagles  in town! You are in the middle of the art district and the people, stores, graffiti, and the atmosphere combined makes for a great afternoon with friends. The three of us had fun just wondering about the market and taking pictures of each other, and also discovering hidden graffitis. It was such a nice and fun experience to share.

Afterwards, we took a bus from Brick lane to Soho. The bus we were on terminated at Tottenham court road station, so we had to walk form the station all the way to Flat Iron in Soho. Jamal and I have dined there several times so we thought that it would be nice to bring hakim there. It is vibrant, cool, and cheap. £10 for a flat iron steak. I believe it is reasonable don't you think so? Below i have attached the following addresses for Brick lane market and Flat Iron.
