Sticks'n Sushi

Craving for something Fishy......?

We decided to try out Sticks'n Sushi instead of going to our usual favourite little sushi place Attariya because Jamal was craving for some Japanese fusion dishes. Sticks'n sushi serve high quality and fresh traditional sushi and yakitori sticks  from the grill. For those who are less adventurous and who are less keen on fishy dishes, there are loads more to choose from ; pork (those who fancy some oink oink), beef, chicken etc. Jamal and I ordered on an empty stomach, so when the menu was handed to us, we went a bit crazy. Everything on the menu looked so appetising and delicious we just couldn't resist. The fact that both of us were off our face hungry didn't help, and the fact that the waitress knew that we were hungry definitely did NOT help. She just kept on recommending dishes, and we kept on ordering.

For starters we had Ebi Bites (first picture) It is tempura prawn, chilli, coriander, pepper, miso-aïoli and fresh lime (£7.50). We ordered that first because we couldn't decided on what to get as mains. After several minutes, and this being after we finished our starter, we finally made our order. We ordered some sashimi, sushi and some sticks. In the third picture, you can see our selection of sashimi and sushis. We got two portions of sashimi - tuna, whitefish, salmon; Salmon carpacio which is salmon, daikon, chives, lime marinade, trout roe, miso-aïoli (£7.60), shake daikon which is thinly sliced daikon, with soy cured salmon, avocado, creme cheese, cucumber and ponzu (£7.50), Beef tataki - beef, smoked cheese, chives, yuzu kosho dressing, soy roasted almonds, and spicy coma dressing (£10.50),  and another salmon roll dish (don't remember the name heehe) Then we ordered our sticks (last picture) i had ordered two of each, and so we ordered the Beef with crunchy chilli and garlic (£7.80), lamb chop topped with miso herb butter (£7.80), scallop in teriyaki (£9.40) , panko breaded duck breast with wasabi ceasar dressing (£7.40) and the duck heart in teriyaki (£2.80) - we only ordered one duck heart because i do not fancy eating the heart of a duck or any kind of heart really... for drinks Jamal and I were served complimentary water and we had ordered 2 miso soups.

Overall, the dishes were delicious and interesting. The sushi and sashimi more than the sticks. Although i did enjoy the sticks, I felt that the sushis tasted better. Surprised to say, the freshness sod the sushi served at Sticks ' n sushi were somewhat just as fresh as the ones served at Attariya. As for the total price of our meal there, I don't think I need to work it all out mathematically for you as i have stated the prices by the side of the name of the dish. Since most of them cost at least £7.80, needless to say that the total amour paid was indeed loads..... Though expensive, i think that it was worth every penny. Just a little advice, NEVER GO WHEN YOU HAVE EATEN NOTHING AND WHEN YOU ARE STARVING OR if you date Jamal... haha cause either way hungry or not, Jamal will still order loads. (Jamal if you're reading this, i love you ) haha
