Banana Leaf

The Banana Leaf rice experience is a total must when it comes totting out Malaysian delicacies like my favourites; The famous Nasi Lemak, nasi goring kampung and nasi ayam.  Nirwana Maju Banana Leaf is located in one the most busiest areas in Kuala Lumpur, which is Bangsar (near Bangsar village II i thnk....) To those who are familiar with Bangsar, you should be used to the number of rounds you would have to drive just to get a parking spot. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the parking there is completely horrendous.

Once you try the food at Nirwana, a few minutes around the car park wouldn't be a problem. Street parking can be a bit challenging, you would either have to go really really rely in the morning or just drive around and pray that a car would leave that parking place (which is significantly rare). On the day that Jamal and friends went to Nirwana, we were able to get a parking spot just like that. I must say, we were pretty lucky. 3pm on a weekday and there weren't many available parking spaces.

For those who are not familiar with this "banana leaf rice experience" , first once you have sat down and ordered, the "mamak" /waiter would spread out a clean and fresh sheet of banana leaf. That banana leaf my friend, is your trusty plate. He would serve you rice and usually three types vegetables and followed by four choices of curries/dhal  to choose from (chicken curry, mutton curry, fish curry and dhal). Next, your other dishes would probably arrive by then and papadum would be served as well.

Me, Jamal and Syazwan went in one car and we met Nadiah ramli there. We had ordered fried squid, mutton curry and fried chicken. That was all to be shared. As for drinks, I had the usual, iced syrup Jamal had iced tea, Nadiah had milk tea and Syazwan had coke i think (don't really remember hehe) This was my second trip to Nirwana banana leaf. The first time had banana leaf was last summer with Jamal, where we bumped into Melissa and Chai. It wasn't too pricey, around RM25 ringgit each? It was a filling and good meal. Cant wait to bring Katie here when she arrives in July!
