Last 19th of May, my boyfriend Jamal and I celebrated his pre-21st birthday at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay,London. The famous restaurant was establish in 1998 and is a holder of three Michelin stars. When it comes to fine dining, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is unrivalled. Chef Patron Clare Smyth MBE leads her dynamic team in providing elegant and unsurpassed modern french cuisines. She happens to be the only female chef in the United Kingdom to hold his accolade. Jamal and I were very lucky to get reservations here on such short notice. I tried to make reservations a few weeks before this date, but I was unable to. They were fully booked till June/July. The weekend before the 20th of May, I decided to try my luck and book a table. We agreed on having the dinner on the 19th as I finish finals on the 18th and leave for Malaysia on the 20th. I was shocked when I saw that there few a few times slots available for that date. I booked our table at the earliest possible time which was at 1030pm.

We started off the meal with three complimentary starters which consists of the parmesan dumplings, tuna and fish roe nibbles, and breaded ricotta and tomato nibbles. It was then followed by a spinach and ricotta bisque which taste absolutely light and somewhat refreshing. Moving on to our starters, I had ordered the usual, The Pan-fried scallops form the Isle of Skye with heritage apples, walnuts, celery and cider emulsion while Jamal had order his favourite, Pressed foie gras with green apples, turnips, watercress and smoke duck.

As for our mains, I had the Cotswold lamb, Spring vegetable "Navarin" , best end, braised shank, confit breast, and shoulder however Jamal had the Roast pigeon with fennel, sautéed foie gras, lavender, honey and orange. After our main course, we were given a mango mouth palette. It sort of looked like a little Mango Milkshake. It was sweet and refreshing. Definitely cleaned our palettes before we moved on to our desserts.

The restaurant brought three complimentary desserts before bringing in our chosen dessert. We had strawberry ice-cream balls covered with white chocolate, homemade peanut butter chocolate and lychee turkish delight. Once we were done with those, they brought in their famous Caramelised tart Tatin of Apples, with Tahitian vanilla ice-cream. Note, this was to be shared and had to be ordered in advance as they had to prepare the ice-cream. After dessert, Jamal decided to freshen up in the washroom. Once he came back, the staff of the Restaurant came with a complementary birthday candle on a little chocolate dessert for Jamal. He was so surprised because the waitress came from behind him. All the staffs/waiters/waitresses/managers wished Jamal "Happy birthday" throughout our dining experience at the restaurant. The food was far from incredible and delicious, and the staff of the restaurant were all very professional and excellent. It was truly an experience for the both of us. InsyaAllah, we would be given the opportunity to try out many other Michelin stared restaurants in the upcoming future.
