The Hotel

After weeks of surveying hotels and villas, we decided to stay at Vogue Resort and Spa in Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand for five days and four nights. This was a trip with some of my closest friends. We had a great stay there, those who booked the standard rooms, their rooms were located next to each other, however theses who booked the deluxe rooms were located at a different part of the hotel. But that didn't really bother us really because it wasn't that far. The resort is well laid out with a lot of greenery with steps that lead you to the pool and restaurant. We didn't opt for the package in which breakfast was included because we knew we were not going to be up in time for breakfast. The pool wasn't grand but we didn't mind. It was still fun when my friends and I played frisbee in the pool. Vogue resort is a small hotel, with only three levels. Oh, mind you that there are no electors in this hotel. So, you would have to drag your bags up a few flights of stairs (depending on what floor you are on). If you are worried about food if you are hungry at night, don't you worry. There is a 7 eleven nearby and also several mini marts that just 2 minutes away. Not only, there is a 24 hour Mc Donalds as well as a Starbucks. Those who are in desperate need of a coffee fix- there is a Starbucks not too far away (approximately 3 minute walk or less). The walk from our hotel to the beach was just a 10 minute walk, where we would pass bars, tourist restaurants and small stalls where you can bargain for some souvenirs. The rooms were spacious and big. All rooms have a private balcony with a small coffee table and two wooden chairs. Inside the rooms, there would be your King/Queen beds/ single beds, a mini bar, a bath tub and a shower cabinet (deluxe room) / shower cabinet (standard room), another small coffee table and two chairs as well as a little sofa to chill on, tv, etc. The hotel also provided us with a cute beach bag and two beach towels. How convenient is that? Overall, it was a pleasant stay at Vogue.

The trip itself

Honestly speaking, we were all too excited about planning a trip outside Malaysia that it didn't occur to us to actually check and do some extra research on the weather in Thailand or Krabi to be precise. Unlike Indonesia that has only two seasons, i.e. HOT or VERY HOT, Thailand has its fair share of the wet/ monsoon season. Unfortunately for us, when we arrived in Krabi (early August) , the monsoon season in Krabi was about to commence. Yay us...

The first day we arrived, it was rather gloomy but it didn't look like it was going to rain. Once we checked in all our stuff, we decided to hit the beach. We walked on the beach shore for a couple of minutes when all of a sudden a storm hit us hard. We ran to the closest convenient store and bought ponchos/ rain coats. We were soaking wet! We ran back to our hotel and dried off in our rooms. The rain lasted for more than an hour and we couldn't really do much but wait in our rooms and relax. At first I wasn't complaining but when the same thing happened everyday through out our whole stay in krabi, it got quite annoying.

We were really looking forward to doing all the outdoor activities such as snorkelling, tanning, trekking etc. But unfortunately we weren't able to do so as it was too dangerous for us to go out to sea when there are unpredictable monsoon strikes. Also, the current was very strong. We basically chilled  the whole trip, not complaining, after stressful weeks in kl, i kinda needed that chilled get a way. We managed to do one thing, we went to the Emerald pool. From our hotel, it was a 2 hour tuk tuk ride. Excited that it was sunny and that we were actually going to do something, we sang the WHOLE way. Once we got there, it started to pour. The walk up into the forest took us 30 minutes and once we got there, it started to rain again. Approximately 15 minutes in the water, it started to pour and the guide told us to come down immediately as some areas started to flood. True enough, the water was knee high! We had to walk through the muddy flood water. It was pretty fun if i may add hehe We packed our bags and made our way home. Eventhough we were all dead tired, we managed to sing all the way back but this times, not so energetic and loud. Wonder why......

The driver brought us to the Tiger cave and many other places as well. What caught the boys' eye was the shooting range. We were all so so hungry and just wanted to go somewhere and eat. When they saw the shooting range, their tired faces were no where to be seen; especially Jamal's. The boys stayed at the shooting range, while the girls and Shaun went back to the hotel. Overall, it was an okay trip. I would say that we would have had a better time if we didn't travel to Krabi during their monsoon season.

Note: DO YOUR RESEARCH GUYS.

Here are some pictures from the trip taken from my iPhone 5, enjoy
