ROKA

2:00 pm

Last Sunday, I went for lovely dinner at this known Japanese restaurant in Charlotte Street called Roka. We ordered spicy edamame as our starter. I thought that it was more salty than it was spicy. Jamal ordered for all of us. We had selection of sashimi, tuna tartare with quails egg and caviar, black miso cod fish, two different types of sushi rolls, and soft shell crab to share between the five of us.

The restaurant wasn't that big and the tables we placed quite close to each other which didn't really give you much privacy. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and from our table we were able to see the chefs in action in the open kitchen. However, it was noisy. SO if you're not the sort of person who would not enjoy being in a loud surrounding, then Roka might not be the place you would want to have dinner at.

The food was delicious and the sashimi was really fresh! I would rate the food at the restaurant 8/10. However the service was not too great. The guy who handled our table kept on forgetting our orders. He had forgotten about our two other dishes. Prior to that, we tried to get the attention of the other star but they were just too busy to attend to us and get things right. Honestly, the service was a bit disappointing. Other than that the food was fresh and delicious but nothing exceptional.
