This book definitely moved me
A book recommended by a friend of mine; a tale of how women in the East are treated basically. It got me thinking about what all these women go through.. abuse and torture with not a single hand in help. No one to rescue them. No one to save them but themselves. This book justifies that the emotion of a single human being must not be limited to feelings to the family but it must go beyond it. It tells a story of two women, Mariam and Laila and how it tell the eloquent yet complex story of Kabul by using Laila and Mariam as a mouthpiece. It tells a sad story of sacrifice and separation through Laila's father, Mariam wanting to escape Pakistan and other events. Besides, it focuses on the changes in Kabul after the Taliban arrived. A powerful and enchanting novel
A must read
