Alain Ducasse At the Dorchester
10:27 am
Celebrated our Wood Anniversary at the famous contemporary french restaurant- Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester last month. Since it was our fifth year together, we decided to splurge a little and treat ourselves to a fancy dinner at a Three Michelin restaurant. The ambiance was relaxed as compared to fine dining at Restaurant Gordon Ramsey, Chelsea. The tables were far apart but still located close enough for you to see what the people at the next table are eating hehe
Service was was top notch! At Restaurant Gordon Ramsey, if I'm not mistaken there were only about 10 other tables in that room. Even though the ambiance was nice but quite stressful. I felt like everyone was judging my every move. Nevertheless, Jamal and I still managed to be goof around and take pictures during dinner despite the vibe we were getting.
We had a four course meal that night at The Dorchester. A starter, fish (main), meat (main) and dessert. Between dishes we received complimentary dishes.
Complimentary starter: parmesan balls
Complimentary starter: leek soup
Starter: Dorset CRAB, celeriac and caviar
Starter: GUINEA FOWL and DUCK FOIE GRAS terrine, rhubarb
Main (fish): Native LOBSTER, celery and homardine sauce
Main (fish): Fillet of TURBOT, sea urchin and radishes
Main (meat): Farmhouse VEAL medallion, wild chicory and black truffle
Main (meat): Rib and saddle of VENISON, parsnip and peanut
Complimentary cheese
Complimentary assorted macarons
Complimentary assorted chocolates
Dessert: CHOCOLATE from our Manufacture in Paris, coffee
Dessert: BABA like in Monte-Carlo (Complementary dessert for our anniversary celebration)
Instead of a four course meal, we ended up having seven course meal! All the dishes were cooked to perfection and they were presented so beautifully on the plates. Kudos to the chef. We had to wait a bit longer for our first main to arrive a.k.a. Jamal's turbot because the chef was not satisfied with he first attempt of making the dish. Other than that, everything was perfect and attention to detail was great. Even the most simplest dish- the parmesan balls were exceptionally delicious.
How can something so simple taste so good?
